Moving to Orkney and a Trip to Kingsand

posted in: Places to Visit | 0

I’m so so so excited to say that after months of searching and applying for jobs, I’ve been offered a graduate weaving placement in the Orkney Islands! The weaving placement is run by For Arts Sake (FAS), part of the Orkney Creative Hub, a community enterprise which supports artists and makers across Orkney. I cannot wait to begin this really exciting time, and share my experiences of beautiful Orkney, as well as the weavings I will be making and workshops that I will be running.

This has been such an exciting time, and I begin the adventure this Saturday! In the mean time, I thought I’d share a few photo’s of mine and Jack’s mini break to Kingsand, Cornwall. We decided to have bit of time out after finally finding a job, it seemed like we hadn’t had a break since graduating! It’s safe to say it’s my new favourite place. Kingsand is such a quiet village outside of the high season, and our Airbnb was so wonderful that we didn’t want to leave. Here’s a few photo’s of our stay and what we got up too. I’ve provided links to the Airbnb at the end, as well as links to FAS if you fancy finding out a little bit more about them!

Thanks for reading!

Weaver and Painter

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2018, with a degree in Fine Art. I went on to train as a weaver in Orkney, and now teach weaving workshops at Orkney Creative Hub. I am a painter and have my own business, The Orkney Cloth Company.
